Outreach

With every day being a "school day" our outreach team is drawn from our membership, providing presenters that will talk to any audience on a range of general or specialist topics.  Our volunteers have a passion for astronomy and a desire to share that passion with others.  As a consequence ‘they’ often go that extra mile, getting involved in a number of STEM events and initiatives.  In fact we will work with any organisation, to access ‘all things space' to inspire the diverse population of Shropshire. Although our main thrust is delivering interactive workshops, demonstrations and talks to schools and youth groups, such as Scouts and Brownies, we attend  local events, and festivals, where the public can look through telescopes, and find out more about astronomy. We also host specific events at Village Halls throughout the county where we bring communities together for rare celestial events like eclipses and meteor showers.  We also frequently respond to requests from various organisations such as the National Trust, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Cosford Air Museum, Jon Egging Trust, U3A,  Little Stars and Parish Councils to name but a few, where we facilitate community cohesion through astronomy by building bonds between researchers, amateur stargazers, and the public.
