Introduction to Astronomy
Interested in Astronomy? Want to know more about the night sky or simply fascinated by what’s in the Universe and how mankind is exploring it? Then this might be your opportunity.
Shropshire Astronomical Society (SAS) runs regular ‘Introduction To Astronomy’ sessions as a beginners guide to the subject aimed towards anyone interested in learning more about the night sky. The programme is designed so that you may join at any time and a different topic is covered each month. Delivered by experienced and knowledgeable members, each talk lasts 45 minutes and is held prior to the Society’s regular monthly meetings. Those attending are welcome to stay for the meeting and, if the weather is clear, participate in using a range of telescopes for observation.
Initial attendance is free and without obligation, after 2 sessions attendees will be invited to join the Shropshire Astronomical Society at an annual cost of £25 (this covers a member and guest). Topics are presented in an easy to understand format without the use of maths and are suitable for all over the age of 10. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult. Sessions start at 07.15 pm. Immediately prior to SAS regular monthly meetings which are held on 3rd Saturday of each month from 08.00pm-10.00pm at the Village Hall, Rodington, SY4 4QX.
