Over 40 SAS members (both in person and via Zoom) were treated by local astronomer made good, Dr Warren Skidmore, enthusing about his involvement in the Thirty Metre Telescope. Presenting from a garage at his home in California, as just one of four astronomers on the project, with an interest in cataclysmic variables, he shared his passion for what might be when the go-ahead for this ground breaking instrument is finally given to proceed either in Hawaii or the Canaries. Warren outlined the many obstacles they have to over come before the 10 year build is completed. However he could not hide his enthusiasm for the science that will open up when the instrument is fully operational. We look forward to monitoring the progress of TMT.
