By popular demand, the first meeting of BST, addressed the thorny subject of which is the best telescope. Aimed mainly at those new to stargazing the speaker discussed the pro's and con's of the various types of telescope touching on what type of mount to use, together with the role of the 'eyepiece'. It was agreed that the best telescope was the one that you use the most often, and if the opportunity presents itself then it is recommended that you 'try before you buy' - a benefit of being a member of the Shropshire Astronomical Society.
