Always optimistic, the SAS monthly meeting at Rodington VH, was moved to coincide with the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. The early evening was occupied by a presentation on the general subject of meteoroids entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Following tea and cake, alongside lots of questions and discussions, the gathered mass ventured outside to try and blow away the mandatory cloud cover. Unsuccessfully we retired inside for more chat and cake. A small number of guests were rewarded for their perseverance with a glimpse of a small number of meteors in the cloud gaps. Let’s hope for more conducive conditions when we gather to spot the Orionids in October.
