SAS on Tour at Rushbury

Feedback from the monthly meeting, which took place in the south of the county, was very positive. Over two dozen members and guests made the trip south to be treated to an excellent and informative presentation by Ian Morison who explored what we have learnt about the size and structure of our Milky Way Galaxy and its place in time and space. Until the 1920's it was widely thought that our Milky Way Galaxy was the Universe - hence the talk’s title. Ian discussed how its size and structure has been found, and how Edwin Hubble and others showed that the Milky Way is just one of myriads of galaxies stretching across a Universe whose size we can hardly imagine. Following the many comments about the excellent venue I am sure will return in the near future,
