With a little creative jiggling we managed to arrange our monthly meeting to coincide with the Perseid Meteor Shower. With so many familiar faces as well as fresh newcomers, up to as many 50 stargazers chatted, drank tea and looked up in anticipation. The gathered crowd were treated to one or two bright streaks but poor atmospherics and a bright moon hindered proceedings. Late stayers were treated to views of Saturn and Jupiter while the early evening was filled with the summer favourite of solar observing.
